Thanks Brian, I can't believe I left that one out! I guess that's because we have started using more Americanisms and we're much more politically correct now. Poof was pretty much a British (derogatory) slang word for a gay guy. I'm not 100 per cent sure but I think the Aussies added the extra oomph and it became poofter. Because that's what we do, we nick stuff. We stole poof from the Brits and Gay from the Yanks. What do you expect from convicts?!

What, no reference to pooftah's?

HBO recently ran an Australian show called Summer Heights High where a character uses the term.

Ha Natalina, you poopy wool! OK, I've decided a rozzle sounds quite nice. I read your paragraph while putting on my best Frances McDormand Fargo accent and amused myself quite well.

Why didn't people tell me how many spelling and grammatical errors that post had in it?! I just went back and re-edited a bit. Probably still missed some but let this be a lesson folks, writing a post AFTER you've taken a Stilnox (Ambien)is probably not the cleverest idea!

CHERYL,

Heehee! You mentioned to me once before how you loathe that...what kind of a friend would I be if I didn't throw it back in your face?? Especially after calling me "poopy wool" about 10 times! :)

If it makes you feel better, you'll love my rozzle. It's just a hug or a snuggle. Particularly nice if you are wearing a bunny hug!

Natalina, it is very lucky you live all the way across the other side of the world. I usually bury the people who call me Chezza in my backyard. It's a nice hilly outlook! Your Upper Midwestern has left me gobsmacked. I only understood a few words in that response like "and", "that" and "my". You bunch of freaks ;) Although if bubbler means the same thing there as it does here, it's a little drinking fountain that you usually find in playgrounds. Am I right? We also use nippy to describe the cold but what the hell is a rozzle and am I going to enjoy it?

You got me Pop Doctor! How could I have left out the word I use so much. I'll have to go back and amend my post.

Gossip Girl, that made me choke with laughter. We never ever set fire to our gay friends!

Heidi my sweet, how did you come across this?! I'm so happy you found me here. I miss your gorgeous sunny face. As soon as I saw "Neryl" I remembered the good old days of bitching about everyone at my desk! We have to do the great Aussie thing and go and get pissed very soon :)

Neryl,
I'd say this is a VERY comprehensive list. You've even gone as far as to put in "Fuckwit" and make reference to the term "Fucktard", and the fact the the term "dole" made the list really makes it a very accurate guideline to the Australian language. Very impressive haha!
Love you and your work, you dag (not the wooly bum poo kind)

If you said you were going to smoke a fag here it would be considered a hate crime! That was funny and enlightening. You guys sure talk funny.

Now that I've read your comments I'm scared to go to Canada. I thought they spoke English lol ;)

Thought Wanka may have got a run - but hey there's only so much our friends across the globe can swallow in one go.

Not given us not just a great little post but also proven you're a social educator :)

Chezza,

I was worried at first as I read the definition of "dag", as this is a term you've used for ME a few times! But, I will assume it is geared more to my ultra nerd status than my matted poo/wool personality ;)

Now, I do live in an area where it is not uncommon to see a cattle trailer pulled up next to you at the gas station, and I rather like slot machines...smoking a fag as we speak...holy hell, I'm really a bogan?? Damn! Here I thought I was a classy lady! Well, for your entertainment, the rest of this comment will be written in Upper Midwestern/Canadian speak...the language of my people.

Hey hoser!

I've decided that being a honyocker isn't such a bad thing. After all, bogan...honyocker...it's a horse a piece, eh? Uff-dah! Doncha know, I'm parched, and in need of a drink from the bubbler? No bubbler? That frosts my butt! I need to get one of them jobbies to use to fix dat bubbler! When you called me a dag, I pretnear cried! Excuse me while I go use the biffy. wow! It is nippy in here! Gonna put on my bunny hug. It's very dekey, indeed. Don't worry Cheryl, I'll still give ya a rozzle. For now I need to close the light off and catch some snoozers. I liked dat dere post on Sugar Rushing. You becha!
